Barley news Russia: July-February barley exports hit all-time high for this period

Russian barley exports in July-February 2017/18 hit an all-time high for these months. Barley shipments to foreign markets totalled 4.1 mln tonnes, which is up 36% from the whole 2016/17 season (3 mln tonnes), UkrAgroConsult reported on April 20.

Traditionally, Saudi Arabia remains the top export destination for Russian barley this season, absorbing 37% of its exports.

Iran is the second largest importer of Russian barley. Its deliveries to the country exceeded 1.1 mln tonnes during the reporting period, i.e. more than twice as much as during the whole last season.

In addition, Russia resumed barley supplies to Turkey and Kuwait. Russian exporters shipped 384.6 thousand tonnes of the commodity to the Turkish market in July-February 2017/18 - the largest volume since MY 2014/15. Exports to Kuwait totaled 126 thousand tonnes. Last time Russia exported barley to this market in the 2015/16 season (190 thousand tonnes).
